Kigoma 910 Coffee comes from the village of Kigoma, in the southern hills of Rwanda, at an altitude of 1700 m, where fertile soils and regular rainfall create ideal conditions for the Red Bourbon variety.
The owner of the Horizon processing station, Leo Fidele Ndagijimana, after acquiring the station at the end of 2018, replaced or repaired the existing equipment. The profit generated over the years has been reinvested to purchase additional land, necessary for setting up raised drying beds.
The station receives the cherries from smallholder farmers, which are sorted using flotation and washing tanks to remove impurities. The cherries are sun-dried and left to rest in tanks for 15 hours. The next day, the coffee is spread on the raised beds, 4–5 cm thick, and regularly turned to ensure even drying, for approximately 30 days.
