Rwanda is blessed with ideal coffee growing conditions that include high altitude, regular rainfall, volcanic soils with good organic structure and an abundance of Bourbon. Coffee is grown in most parts of the country, with particularly large concentrations along Lake Kivu and in the southern province.
.Horizon Supreme is a washing station located in the hills of southern Rwanda, where a combination of high altitude and good rains give some of the highest quality from the country. Leo Fidele Ndagijimana, the owner, after buying the washing station end of 2018, Fidele replaced and fixed the mill’s machinery. Part of the scaling up has been a massive reinvestment of most of the profits that the station has been generating in recent years to purchase an extra plot of land adjacent to the station to place some newly built raised beds.Once the cherries are delivered at the washing station, they are sorted with the help of floatation tanks and washed to remove any dirt or debris, the cherries are then sun-dried and placed to rest in tanks for 15 hours.The following day the coffee is spread out on the raised beds in 4-5 cm thick layers and tagged, the coffee is constantly moved to favour even drying for around 30 days
