Teshale Heurioso is known in the Bona Qeqe region as one of the best farmers and was an active member and treasurer of the Bensa cooperative for six years, before starting to export coffee from his own farm in 2019.
Hand Picked Coffee cherries are brought to the Ayele Washing Staion- Bona Qeqe site washing stations by out-growers across Bona Qeqe.After the cherries arrive at the Ayele Washing station, they are allowed to float at a floating tank in order to rule out unripe and defective cherries. The selected cherries are then allowed to dry where drying methods are usually on raised African beds with constant raking and sorting to preserve the high natural quality of the coffee.The dry cherries are placed through hulling machines, which separate the dried fruit from the coffee beans before they are transported to Addis Ababa for further processing.
