Coffee processed at the Karimikui washing station comes from smallholder producers in the villages of Gituba and Kithure, located at altitudes of 1,600–1,700 meters above sea level, where coffee represents a key source of income.
Farmers practice diversified agriculture, integrating trees such as avocado and mango, which provide natural shade and support biodiversity. Cherries are hand-picked at optimal ripeness, then fermented for approximately 24 hours before being fully washed and dried on raised beds to ensure even drying.
