The Yandaro Washing Station, established in 1986, is located in Kayanza Province, Burundi, and receives coffee from approximately 3,193 local producers. Farms are small, averaging around 360 coffee trees grown on less than half a hectare. Farmers also grow bananas, beans, and cassava alongside their coffee.
In Burundi, washing stations play an essential role, as most producers lack the space and resources needed to process coffee themselves. Yandaro therefore brings together the production of smallholder farmers and ensures careful processing of their coffee.
