On the land inherited from his father, in a fertile area shaded by native trees, Alemayehu Daniel continues his family’s tradition of coffee cultivation. During the harvest season, he hires 40–60 workers to pick only the fully ripe cherries, which are carefully washed and cleaned before being sent to Gedeb for processing. For the past two years, he has been exporting under his own license, a move that has earned him government awards and better prices for his coffee. Supported by his wife, who cooks for the workers and prepares organic compost, he reinvests the earnings in essential equipment, raising the standard of living for his family of eight children.
